Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Barcelona right-back Dani Alves this week, according to reports.
The Brazilian is out of contract at the end of this season and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United reportedly keen.
However, Spanish newspaper Sport claims that Brendan Rodgers's side have opened talks with Alves over a free transfer this summer, and they are expected to make him a firm offer in the coming days.
Liverpool may be in need of a new right-back next season, as Glenn Johnson looks likely to leave the club this summer.
Alves has won two Champions League titles and four La Liga crowns during his time with Barcelona.
