Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski has reportedly rejected the chance to join Napoli in order to complete a move to Liverpool instead.
The Poland international has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield this summer, with reports yesterday claiming that the Reds had submitted a £9.5m bid for the player.
Napoli are also in the race to sign the 21-year-old, but their president Aurelio de Laurentiis hinted that his side have missed out to Liverpool.
"I negotiated for Zielinski with the Pozzo family and we finalised every detail," he told Corriere dello Sport.
"Instead it now seems as if the player is doing everything possible to resist the move and not come here. He wants Liverpool."
Zielinski has spent the last two seasons on loan at Empoli, making 62 appearances in Serie A during that time.
