Bafetimbi Gomis and Jimmy Briand score in extra time as Lyon advance through to the quarter-final of the Coupe de France at the expense of Bordeaux.

Four-time winners Lyon required extra time to see off the challenge from Bordeaux in the Coupe de France this afternoon.

Visiting Bordeaux started the tie brightly and went on to break the deadlock in the 24th minute. Brazilian striker Ferreira Vieira Jussie was the goalscorer, finishing off a passing move from close range.

Remi Garde's Lyon responded before the break though, with 20-year-old striker Alexandre Lacazette levelling up proceedings with a shot from virtually on the goalline.

Both sides had chances to win the match after the break, but neither were able to convert their opportunities into goals.

As a result the match entered extra time, and it was Lyon who found the all-important third goal of the match through France international Bafetimbi Gomis.

There was still time for Jimmy Briand to make the tie safe for Lyon, shooting in right-footed from close range following a cross from Lisandro Lopez with two minutes remaining.
