Lyon claim all three points

Lyon take all three points in this afternoon's Ligue 1 clash against Ajaccio by beating them 3-1.

Lyon have registered a 3-1 home victory over Ajaccio in Ligue 1.

The home side made a bright start and had the ball in the back of the net early on through Bafetimbi Gomis, but the striker was called offside.

Ajaccio almost took a surprise lead soon after when Paul Lasne met a cross in the area with his shoulder, but his effort clipped the post and went wide.

Lyon began to dominate proceedings and had a chance on the half-hour mark when Gomis broke free on the counter-attack, but his shot was deflected wide of the mark.

Gomis threatened again five minutes later when he turned away from his marker on the edge of the box; however, his strike flew over the bar.

Lyon went ahead on 43 minutes through Gueida Fofana, who guided a fine curling shot over goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa to make it 1-0.

Jimmy Briand had a good chance to double the hosts' lead on 58 minutes when a cross found him unmarked, but the forward somehow mishit his effort from three yards and allowed Ochoa to save.

Briand made amends for his miss on 69 minutes when he met a cross and cushioned a header into the back of the net for 2-0.

Dennis Oliech pulled a goal back for Ajaccio on 82 minutes, turning the Lyon defence inside out before poking beyond Anthony Lopes.

The away side's hopes of a late comeback were soon extinguished on 90 minutes when Gomis curled home to make it 3-1 and confirm all three points.
