Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: 'Vincent Kompany still 10 days away'

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that defender Vincent Kompany is still not in contention for a return to the first-team squad.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has suggested that defender Vincent Kompany will not return to the first-team squad until after the next international break.

Kompany has been absent from club action since sustaining a muscle injury while with Belgium at the start of September, but Guardiola has previously hinted that the centre-back was not too far away from a full recovery.

However, the head coach has revealed that Kompany will not be rushed back, and that the skipper will continue to be assessed over the coming days.

The 46-year-old told reporters: "Vincent Kompany just travelled so we'll see how his injury is. In the next ten days, he will be coming back. It's a muscular injury."

Despite Kompany's absence, City have put together an unbeaten run of 11 matches in all competitions since the start of September.
