Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero insists that his side are confident of claiming a victory over Chelsea.

Sergio Aguero has revealed that Manchester City have rediscovered their confidence ahead of Chelsea's visit to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Roberto Mancini's side have been on an indifferent run of form that has seen them slip 12 points behind leaders Manchester United in the title race.

However, following City's 4-0 win over Leeds United in the FA Cup yesterday, Argentine striker Aguero has insisted that his side are capable of collecting a positive result from a "difficult" game.

"This helped us do things well and give us confidence for the Chelsea game," he told City TV. "It will be a good match. Difficult, but obviously we need to go out and win.

"I think against Southampton none of us played well and it was a bad day for us all - an error which we hope not to repeat. We will try not to lose any more points in the league so we can keep all three points."

City will go into the Chelsea match 15 points behind United if the leaders overcome Queens Park Rangers a day earlier.
