Atletico Madrid 'win race to sign Joao Felix'

Atletico Madrid are reportedly in pole position to win the race to sign Benfica youngster Joao Felix.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly won the race to sign Benfica youngster Joao Felix.

The newly-capped Portugal international contributed 19 goals during his first season of senior football, a return which has acted as the catalyst for a hotly-contested race for his signature.

Manchester City have been regarded as the favourites to secure a deal for the 19-year-old after showing a willingness to meet the playmaker's release clause.

However, according to Marca, Felix will link up with Atletico after the La Liga runners-up also indicated that they were happy to pay £107m this summer.

Atletico will receive almost exactly that fee should Antoine Griezmann complete his switch to another club in the coming weeks, leaving Felix to come in as a like-for-like replacement.
