Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag expects Marcus Rashford to be available for Thursday's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag is expecting Marcus Rashford to be available for Thursday's Premier League clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The England international has missed Man United's last two matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth, which have seen the Red Devils collect a valuable six points.

Rashford was absent against Wolves on May 13 due to a minor leg injury but returned to training ahead of the clash with Bournemouth last weekend and had expected to be involved against the Cherries.

The 25-year-old was unavailable due to an illness, though, which led to Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho and Antony again starting as the front three for the 20-time English champions.

Rashford returned to training on Tuesday, and he is set to feature against Chelsea, with Man United looking to secure their spot in next season's Champions League.

"It looks like [he will be available]. Yesterday, he returned to training, he looks quite fit but we have to see today what is the outcome of the training, how did we recover and then we will make our choices," Ten Hag said during his press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Rashford has been in excellent form for the Red Devils this season, scoring 29 goals and registering 11 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions.

Sixteen of the forward's goals this term have come in the Premier League, where Man United sit fourth, three points ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.

As a result, the Red Devils only need one point from their final two league games against Chelsea and Fulham to be certain of a top-four position and a spot in the 2023-24 Champions League.

"It's clear. We want to win every game, that is what we do all season so tomorrow we want to do the same, we want to win the game, play dominant football and get the job done," added Ten Hag.

"First, we have to win the game tomorrow and get the job done. Then it's about judgement from others if it's a good, bad or normal performance.

"We are in a project, we want to go back and win trophies, we win one trophy but we want more trophies, compete with the best, we are still in a journey but we think we are in the right direction but it can always be better. Because good is not good enough.

"We want to compete with the best, then you have to be in the Champions League. We want to compete with the best and be in the Champions League. In the Premier League, you have to be one of the first four, that's not easy, many are competing for it, many think they should be in and we are one of them."

Man United have been impressive at Old Trafford in the league this season, winning 13, drawing three and losing one of their 17 matches, picking up 42 points in the process.
