Andre Villas Boas admits it will be "very difficult" for Chelsea to win the Premier League title after they fell further behind the Manchester clubs with today's results.

Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that it will be "very difficult" for his Chelsea side to win the Premier League after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

Clint Dempsey's equaliser cancelled out Juan Mata's earlier effort as Chelsea slipped further behind Manchester City and Manchester United at the top of the table.

"The title will be pretty difficult now," he said.

"The distance by the end of today could make it very hard for us to challenge for the title.

"It would have been a good December for us if we'd finished with six points from two home games, but taking this draw into account it makes it difficult now."

The result left Chelsea points adrift of the Manchester clubs at the top of the table after City and United ended Boxing Day level at the Premier League summit.
