De Gea: 'I have to win trophies at United'

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea 'craves' titles and intends to help the Red Devils to become the Premier League champions once again.

David de Gea has admitted that he can only be considered the best goalkeeper in the world if he wins major honours with Manchester United.

The Spain international's most recent Premier League triumph came in Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign at Old Trafford in 2012-13, while the Red Devils have failed to seriously challenge in the Champions League.

De Gea has added the Europa League, EFL Cup and FA Cup to his collection over the past five years, however, and the 27-year-old - repeatedly linked with a move to European champions Real Madrid - says that he 'craves' winning more silverware.

"I'm playing well, I'm confident but I have to maintain it and win trophies," he told the Daily Mail. "That's what world-class players do.

"Finishing fourth [in the Premier League] is not good enough. I want to win. If you are at United, you need a manager with a winning mentality. We had that with Ferguson. [Jose] Mourinho has it. He wants to win every game.

"Titles are what I crave. We have to get United back to their best, back in the Champions League, back as the champions of England, back to the top."

De Gea was named in the PFA Team of the Year last week for the fourth season in succession.
