Jose Mourinho has urged the Manchester United supporters to give Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger a "good reaction" when the Gunners visit Old Trafford in the Premier League this weekend.
Mourinho and Wenger have had their fair share of spats throughout the years, while Wenger's relationship with the United fans has also been largely negative.
The two rivals will lock horns at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, and Mourinho has conceded that he regrets what has occurred between the two individuals over the years.
"Yes I do [regret it] and probably he also does. There are little things where it would be obviously better without them; some gestures, some words would be better without it. I feel better now without it, no doubt about it," Mourinho told reporters. "I always feel the biggest rivals are our biggest friends because they're the ones that pushed us to the limit.
"I think Man United fans know that until 2004 for about a decade was between Man United and Arsenal, was between Sir Alex [Ferguson] and Mr Wenger and I think that these great teams Arsenal had and they fight shoulder to shoulder with Man United made Man United better and better.
"I hope he has a good reaction, if not good not bad at all and from us club he is going to feel the respect we have."
Mourinho famously once branded Wenger 'a specialist in failure', while the pair were involved in a physical altercation on the touchline in 2014.
