Rio Ferdinand issues the FA a plea to approach Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp for the vacant England job.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes that Harry Redknapp would make a 'great' England manager.

Ferdinand played under the current Tottenham Hotspur boss during his time at West Ham United and has revealed that Redknapp would be his choice for the Three Lions post.

"If I was the geezer in the suit upstairs making the decision, I would go and get Harry, without a doubt," Ferdinand told The Sun.

"Of the possible England managers out there I don't see anyone beating the door down as hard as him.

"Obviously Spurs will have something to say about it and no disrespect to them, but Harry would make a great England manager."

Ferdinand could feature for United when they face Redknapp's Spurs at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
