Sir Alex Ferguson has no plans to retire yet, and says he sympathises with whoever does eventually replace him.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he has no plans to retire just yet.

Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and David Moyes have all been touted as successors to Ferguson at Old Trafford, and with all three apparently available in the summer, there has been speculation over the 71-year-old's future.

Moyes' Everton contract is due to run out, Guardiola is reportedly ready to end his year-long sabbatical and Mourinho has been linked with a Real Madrid exit, but Ferguson says he is going nowhere.

"I'm hoping to stay on for a bit of time," Ferguson told Abu Dhabi Sports.

Ferguson also admitted that it will be tough for whoever replaces him due to the high pressure that managers come under.

He continued: "It's very difficult. Over the years, names have been branded about but football is such a precarious industry.

"You could be talking about one of the potentially exciting young managers in the game, but is he going to be here in two or three years' time? The sack race is horrendous."

Ferguson, who turned 71 yesterday, will oversee United taking on Wigan Athletic this afternoon.
