Brad Friedel has said that Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea deserves "more credit" for his performances this season.
The Tottenham Hotspur keeper, who will man the opposing goal when United make the trip to White Hart Lane this afternoon, insists that the Spaniard has made several significant saves since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer.
"People need to start giving him a little bit more credit," Friedel told The Mirror.
"His performances recently have been solid. He has made some big saves in some crucial games after getting a lot of stick.
"It's not easy being 21 years old, making a mistake or two. The older you get, the easier it becomes."
Meanwhile, De Gea earlier this week described the American as an "inspiration".
