Manchester United confirm that chief scout Jim Lawlor and head of global scouting Marcel Bout will both leave the club.

Manchester United have revealed that chief scout Jim Lawlor and head of global scouting Marcel Bout will both leave the club.

The Red Devils are set for a staff overhaul this summer, with Ajax's Erik ten Hag widely expected to be named their new manager, and the Dutchman is likely to bring members of his current team with him.

Interim head coach Ralf Rangnick, meanwhile, is due to become an advisor, and the German is expected to be involved in recruitment at Old Trafford moving forward.

Lawlor, who has been chief scout since 2014, will leave the club alongside Bout, with the latter arriving at the same time as Louis van Gaal before becoming head of global scouting in 2016.

"Jim Lawlor has decided to step down from his role as chief scout in the summer after 16 years with the club. During that time, Jim played a key role in the development of multiple trophy-winning Manchester United teams and was an important source of guidance to Sir Alex Ferguson and each of the managers who have followed him," read a statement from a Man United spokesperson.

"Jim leaves the club with our warmest thanks for his significant contribution and our very best wishes for the future.

"Marcel Bout has departed from his role as head of global scouting after eight years with the club. Marcel has played an important part as an assistant coach and in the strengthening of our scouting capabilities in recent years."

Man United will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool when they visit Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
