Manchester United reportedly give up hope of hiring Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager this summer.

Manchester United have reportedly accepted that they will not be able to lure Julian Nagelsmann away from Bayern Munich this summer.

The 34-year-old took the reins in Bavaria last summer following his impressive work with RB Leipzig and has a contract with the German champions until the summer of 2026.

Nagelsmann was tipped to come to the Premier League with Man United before replacing Hansi Flick at Bayern, and the Red Devils are still rumoured to have their eye on him amid their manager search.

However, Sky Sports News claims that Nagelsmann would only be prepared to move to a Premier League side well-placed to challenge for titles, and as a result, the Red Devils cannot expect to convince the German to move to Old Trafford.

The report adds that the Bayern boss could be tempted to replace Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola at Liverpool or Manchester City respectively, and an ideal situation would see Nagelsmann "walk into" Man United this summer.

Nagelsmann has won 26 of his 37 games in charge of Bayern so far this term, with his side six points clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga table and in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will meet Villarreal.

With Nagelsmann not a realistic candidate, Man United are thought to have identified Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag as the two frontrunners for the hotseat.
