Mauricio Pochettino aiming to finish with win

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he wants to finish the season on a "very high note" when they host Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino has said that he wants Southampton to finish their Premier League season on a "very high note" this weekend.

The Saints, who will finish eighth in the table this season, face seventh-placed Manchester United at St Mary's on Sunday.

The manager told reporters: "We will try to win as we always try to do in any game, but they will try to do the same. We want to win because we are in front of our fans and we are going to be playing against an amazing team and we want to finish the season on a very high note.

"I'm very happy and I'm very proud of these players for what they've done this season because they've pretty much given 100% throughout the entire season.

"This is a good chance now in the game against Manchester United on Sunday to recognise that that the fans have been with us and giving us amazing support throughout the season, so this is a chance to congratulate them again."

Finishing eighth equals Southampton's best finish in the Premier League.
