Manchester United's Wayne Rooney remains a doubt for Southampton game

Ryan Giggs suggests that Wayne Rooney will miss Sunday's final Premier League game of the season against Southampton due to injury.

Manchester United interim boss Ryan Giggs has revealed that Wayne Rooney is unlikely to feature against Southampton for the club's final Premier League game of the season.

The striker missed United's 3-1 victory over Hull City on Tuesday night with a groin injury.

It appears that the England international is not at full fitness, despite returning to training, after Giggs told reporters that "Sunday might be too quick for him".

While Rooney is currently struggling with injury, there are no fears that the forward will miss the World Cup in Brazil.
