Brendan Rodgers: 'Moyes was not given enough time at Manchester United'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers claims that Manchester United did not give David Moyes a fair crack of the whip as manager.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has claimed that David Moyes was not given enough time as Manchester United boss.

The Scot was sacked in April, less than a year into his six-year contract, after overseeing a disastrous run at Old Trafford, but the Northern Irishman doesn't think that the ex-Everton coach was afforded enough of a chance to turn it around.

He told reporters: "I think there were a lot of things at Manchester United that were not seen by many. He had to go in and where I felt for him is that he thought he was getting time.

"All of a sudden when it's not as hunky-dory as people think it is, you don't get that opportunity. He signed a long-term deal and thought he had that longevity to do his work."

Liverpool signed their seventh player of the summer on Wednesday when Javier Manquillo arrived on a two-year loan deal from Atletico Madrid.
