Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly preparing to change his tactics for the 2021-22 campaign.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly preparing to change his tactics for the 2021-22 campaign by setting the Red Devils up in a 4-3-3 formation.

The Norwegian largely deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation last season, with Fred and Scott McTominay often selected as the two holding midfielders, with Bruno Fernandes operating further forward.

However, according to ESPN, Solskjaer wants to alter his tactics for the new season by selecting an attacking 4-3-3, with one holding midfielder in the middle of the park.

The report claims that the players present at pre-season training have already been informed of the manager's plans, which could potentially see Fernandes and Paul Pogba operate alongside Fred or McTominay.

The 20-time English champions have already secured a deal for Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho, while the club are said to be making progress in their pursuit of Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.

Man United are unlikely to sign a new centre-forward this summer, though, having renewed Edinson Cavani's contract for another season, while Mason Greenwood is expected to be used as a striker next term.
