Manchester United to play international friendlies if they miss out on Europe?

Manchester United could play friendlies in the United States and Middle East if they miss out on Champions League football.

Manchester United could reportedly travel around the globe for a number of friendlies if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

The Red Devils are in danger of missing out on Europe's elite competition for the first time in 19 years following a disappointing start to David Moyes's tenure.

They are currently sixth in the league, 11 points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

The Mirror reports that finishing outside the top four would cost the club around £25m, but they believe that they could offset some of that by agreeing to friendlies in the United States and Middle East.

According to the report, United made an estimated £2m when they played a friendly in Saudi Arabia in 2008.
