Ashley Young has signed a five-year deal with Manchester United, his new club have confirmed.
The former Aston Villa player was expected to seal the deal, worth in the region of £17m, before the weekend following a medical yesterday.
The striker had flagged his willingness to move on from Villa earlier in the month, stating that he aspires to play football “at the highest levels”, including in the Champions League.
Young made 30 goals for the Midlands club since joining in January 2007.
The 25-year-old’s acquisition marks Sir Alex Ferguson’s second signing of the season, following Blackburn defender Phil Jones.
