Liverpool 'preparing £41m bid for Saul Niguez'

Liverpool reportedly prepare to table a £41m bid for Saul Niguez, and Atletico Madrid are expected to accept the Reds' approach.

Liverpool are reportedly planning to approach Atletico Madrid with a £41m offer for midfielder Saul Niguez.

The 26-year-old has supposedly been told that he is free to leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer, and the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been credited with an interest.

Jurgen Klopp remains on the lookout for a Georginio Wijnaldum replacement, while some uncertainty still remains over the future of Jordan Henderson following stalled contract talks.

According to AS, Liverpool are set to table a £41m offer for Saul, and Atletico are not in a position to turn the Reds' bid down.

The Spain international remains contracted to the La Liga champions until the summer of 2026, but he struggled for consistent starts last term and only had a hand in three goals from 41 appearances in all competitions.

Saul did feature on 33 occasions during Atletico's triumphant league run, but he started just 22 of those games and was not included in Spain's Euro 2020 squad.
