Manchester United are reportedly preparing a double swoop for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele and Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils have made their worst start to a top-flight league campaign since 1989-90, with a total of nine points leaving them in 10th position in the Premier League table.
Head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently admitted that his team would be in the market for a new forward in the next transfer window having allowed both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to leave during the summer.
According to the Daily Star, United are lining up a £50m swoop for Frenchman Dembele, who has been scouted on a number of occasions by the English giants this season.
The 23-year-old has six goals in eight appearances for his Ligue 1 club during the 2019-20 campaign, while he has managed 26 in 54 outings since arriving from Celtic in August 2018.
Meanwhile, the same report claims that Solskjaer's team are also set to launch a fresh £40m move for Longstaff, having been strongly linked with the 21-year-old during the summer.
United were unable to agree a fee with the Magpies before the August deadline, but the Englishman could allegedly be allowed to leave Steve Bruce's strugglers in the winter.
