Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani on a free transfer ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
Cavani's existing deal with PSG will expire at the end of June, and it widely thought that the French club's all-time leading goalscorer will move on in search of pastures new.
Manchester United are believed to be serious candidates for the Uruguay international, who has scored seven times in 22 appearances for Thomas Tuchel's side this season.
However, according to Foot Mercato, Newcastle are also in the running for the 33-year-old.
The Magpies could soon become comfortably the richest side in the Premier League as Saudi consortium attempt to buy the club from Mike Ashley.
The report claims that should the deal go through then the club are prepared to offer Cavani a 'golden contact' to make the move to St James' Park this summer.
The South American has scored 200 goals in 301 appearances for PSG since arriving in the French capital from Napoli in July 2013.
