Report: Aston Villa join Jonny Evans race

A report claims that Aston Villa have joined Everton and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.

Aston Villa have reportedly joined the race to sign Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans this summer.

The Northern Ireland international has just one year left on his contract at Old Trafford and it is understood that the defender will leave this summer.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have both been strongly linked with a move for the 27-year-old, but it is believed that Evans wants guaranteed first-team football before committing to any deal.

According to the Daily Star, Villa are prepared to offer Evans regular first-team football and will make an offer when the transfer window officially opens later this month.

Evans, who only made 12 Premier League starts during the 2014-15 campaign, could reportedly be available for as little as £5m.
