Manchester United reportedly offered to double the wages of midfielder Ander Herrera.
The Spain international has less than three months remaining on his contract, and it has been claimed that the player is likely to link up with Paris Saint-Germain.
Herrera has also previously hinted that United have not been keen to meet his wage demands but according to Forbes, the Premier League giants made a considerable effort to keep the 29-year-old.
The report claims that United were prepared to hand Herrera wages of £200,000 per week, while also providing the player with a new four-year deal.
However, it has been suggested that Herrera's representative had requested a five-year contract worth closer to £300,000 per week.
