Roberto Martinez: 'Belgium won't push Romelu Lukaku'

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez says that he has no intention of including Romelu Lukaku in his starting lineup should the Manchester United forward be carrying an injury.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has suggested that striker Romelu Lukaku will not be risked for the World Cup qualifier with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Earlier this week, Lukaku sustained what is said to be a minor ankle injury, and it appears that the Manchester United forward may feature against Cyprus on Tuesday.

However, with Belgium's qualification for the World Cup already guaranteed, Martinez has indicated that he has no plans to take any risks on the in-form 24-year-old.

Martinez told reporters: "Romelu has worked separately. We will make a decision about him on Friday but I think it will be difficult, even though we continue to hope. Romelu would like to join in, but he must be fully recovered.

"We will wait for as long as possible to make a decision and we also keep in touch with Manchester United. But they can be sure we will not push him too far."

Lukaku has scored 11 goals in 10 appearances in all competitions since leaving Everton for United in the summer.
