Pep Guardiola has claimed that Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will not feature for Belgium in next week's World Cup qualifiers, despite being called up to the squad.
Red Devils boss Roberto Martinez named the centre-back in his 27-man squad on Friday morning for the upcoming games against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus.
Kompany has not featured in any of City's last six matches since picking up a calf injury on international duty with Belgium in August, restricting him to just a couple of training sessions.
Guardiola does not expect the 31-year-old to play in either of Belgium's remaining qualifying fixtures, though, telling reporters: "Kompany didn't make one training session with us for one month. He will meet with Belgium doctors and come back. He won't play."
Sergio Aguero and Benjamin Mendy have both been added to the Citizens' injury list this week, the latter of whom is expected to miss the next six months.
