Middlesbrough captain Matthew Bates has said that he's happy to stay at the Championship club despite interest from Premier League sides.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract and has been linked with Swansea and Bolton in the recent transfer window.
"I was never knocking on the gaffer's door saying I wanted to leave,” he told BBC Tees
"I knew the situation with the club, I'm in the last year of my contract and whatever was to happen would happen."
The Academy graduate, who has made 90 appearances for the club, is reportedly keen for a return to the Premier League.
