Chievo dent Napoli's Serie A title hopes with an impressive 2-0 victory over Walter Mazzarri's side.

Napoli have lost ground on title rivals Juventus today after slipping to a surprise 2-0 defeat at Chievo in Serie A.

Walter Mazzarri's side were behind after 12 minutes when Boukary Drame slammed home from distance with a powerful left-footed drive.

Less than a minute later Chievo came close to extending their advantage through Alberto Paloschi, who clipped the crossbar with a firm header.

Lorenzo Insigne and Juan Camilo Zuniga aimed strikes from long range just wide as Napoli struggled to find a response.

Chievo made the visitors pay just before the break as Cyril Thereau controlled a lofted through-ball before beating Morgan De Sanctis from close range.

Napoli were presented with a chance to respond early in the second half from the penalty spot, but Edinson Cavani continued his drought as his tame penalty was saved.

Goran Pandev and Pablo Armero were thrown on after 60 minutes but Napoli were unable to find a way back into the match.
