Rafael Benitez is fearful of losing his Newcastle United job before the end of the season, according to a report.
The 58-year-old has long been at loggerheads with owner Mike Ashley over a perceived lack of backing in the transfer window.
Benitez, who is a huge fan favourite at Newcastle, had widely been expected to walk away from St James' Park when his three-year deal expires in eight months' time.
Amid talk of Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers being lined up to take over, however, The Mirror claims that Benitez has become unsettled and fears that a 'whispering campaign' has already started.
The report indicates that the Spaniard is worried that Ashley will sack him before the season is out in order to save himself from a fans' revolt.
Newcastle have made a poor start to their second season back in the Premier League, collecting just two points from the first 24 on offer.
