Lyon have reportedly told Newcastle United that Bafetimbi Gomis will cost £8.6m this summer, as the stand-off between both clubs continues over the striker.
Magpies boss Alan Pardew has been chasing forwards to offer Papiss Cisse competition for places in recent weeks, but moves for Gomis and Darren Bent have so far failed to materialise.
Gomis is reported to want a move to the Premier League, with the forward having less than 12 months left on his current Lyon contract.
The 27-year-old failed to attend a meeting with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas yesterday, but Remi Garde's side still want a transfer fee of £8.6m before agreeing to a sale, according to the Evening Chronicle.
Director of football Joe Kinnear is still chasing his first deal of the summer, with Newcastle the only Premier League club yet to add a new player during the close season.
