Prime Minister David Cameron plans to write to FIFA asking the governing body to review their poppy ban.

Prime Minister David Cameron will write to FIFA asking the governing body to review their poppy ban, it has emerged this afternoon.

Earlier today Cameron described FIFA's decision not to allow England players to wear poppies on their kit as "outrageous" and "absurd".

Yesterday, the English Football Association tried to appeal the suspension, but FIFA announced that the ruling still stood.

It has since been confirmed that the England squad will wear poppies on their training kit prior to Saturday's friendly match with Spain at Wembley.
