Shadow minister for sport: 'FIFA must publish full World Cup ethics findings'

FIFA must publish its World Cup ethics report findings in full, Labour shadow minister for sport Clive Efford declares.

Labour shadow minister for sport Clive Efford MP has insisted that FIFA "has no choice" but to publish the full findings of its ethics report.

The 42-page document, which ultimately cleared respective World Cup 2018 and 2022 hosts Russia and Qatar of any wrongdoing in terms of corruption, was compiled by FIFA investigator Michael Garcia.

The report also criticised the English Football Association for themselves failing to abide by rules when bidding for the 2018 World Cup.

However, the author of the document has since criticised the football governing body's take on it, claiming that it contains "numerous materially incomplete and erroneous representation".

Efford is the latest high-profile figure to have his say on the matter, telling BBC Sport: "FIFA has no choice but to publish Michael Garcia's report in full, if it expects anyone to believe their claims that that there has been no cover up over allegations of corruption in the World Cup bidding process.

"Our FA has been accused of wrongdoing regarding its bid for the 2018 tournament in the conclusions published by the Fifa Ethics committee, but these have been attacked by Michael Garcia for being 'incomplete and erroneous in its representations of the facts.'

"The FA will only be able to defend itself if it is given full access to the report."

The FA had its say on the matter earlier today, prior to the revelations made by Garcia this afternoon.
