Northampton Town defender Brendan Moloney has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
The 26-year-old suffered an injury against Burton Albion towards the end of last season.
"We didn't want any injuries lingering on into the new season but we got some bad advice," manager Chris Wilder is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "The advice we got was for him just to rest but he's been to see another knee specialist and he's been operated on."
Moloney joined Northampton on a permanent deal in February following a loan spell with the Cobblers.
