Alex Neil: 'Alexander Tettey substitution made us vulnerable'

Norwich City boss Alex Neil admits that taking off Alexander Tettey made his side more vulnerable in the 6-2 loss to Newcastle United.

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has admitted that he regrets taking Alexander Tettey off in the second half of his side's 6-2 defeat to Newcastle United.

With the score at 3-2, Neil brought Wes Hoolahan on for Tettey in an attempt to find an equaliser at St James' Park.

Newcastle would score three more goals after the change to pick up their first Premier League win of the season, and the Canaries boss concedes that the substitution did not help his side on a disappointing afternoon.

"There was one decision made in the game, when I took Alex Tettey off, that didn't have the effect it should have had," Neil told reporters.

"It made us more vulnerable at the back. When you concede that many goals it's hard to take positives, but offensively we looked a threat."

The loss means that Norwich are still waiting for their first clean sheet of the league campaign after nine games.
