Queens Park Rangers call time on manager Mark Hughes's career at Loftus Road following a dismal start to the club's Premier League campaign.

Queens Park Rangers have announced the sacking of manager Mark Hughes just a day before facing Manchester United in the Premier League.

The West London outfit have experienced a torrid start to the season by failing to secure one victory in the league so far, which has placed the former Championship side at the bottom of the table.

While QPR chairman Tony Fernandes had shown public support to Hughes on numerous occasions, the club have claimed that they had no choice but to terminate the 49-year-old's contract.

A statement released by the club said: "This decision has been taken after careful consideration by the Board of Directors following numerous meetings over the last few days. The Board of Directors wish to thank Mark for his commitment, hard work and dedication in his 10 months in charge.

"Mark has shown integrity and professionalism throughout his time here, but ultimately the circumstances we find ourselves in have left the Board of Directors with very little choice but to make a change.

"The Board will now be working actively to put a new managerial structure in place as soon as possible. Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki will take charge of the R's trip to Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The club will be making a further announcement in due course."

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has emerged as the favourite to take over at Loftus Road.
