QPR will step up their security for Rangers' FA Cup fourth-round tie against Chelsea on January 28.

Queens Park Rangers are planning to step up security for Chelsea's return to Loftus Road since John Terry was accused of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.

The Premier League club will enlist the services of extra stewards and police for QPR's FA Cup fourth-round tie against the Blues on January 28.

This is the first time that Rangers defender Ferdinand will come face to face with the Chelsea and England captain, who is due to appear before West London magistrates on February 1.

"Our number one priority is always to ensure the safety and enjoyment of both sets of supporters and stewarding, security and policing numbers will reflect that," The Mirror quotes QPR spokesman Ian Taylor as saying.

Rangers boss Mark Hughes has claimed that the 26-year-old centre-back is due to play against the former Premier League champions.
