Rangers manager Ally McCoist has heaped praise upon the club's fans for their part in his side's 3-2 win over Old Firm rivals Celtic on Sunday.
Celtic would have clinched the SPL title if they had beaten Rangers at Ibrox, but McCoist claims that the fans created one of the best atmospheres he has ever experienced, and were rewarded by the players on the pitch.
"I'd have to say I thought the atmosphere created by the Rangers fans was one of the best I've ever heard at Ibrox at the weekend," he told the official club website.
"I was talking to the gaffer [Walter Smith] about it afterwards and we were both in agreement about it. The atmosphere from the Rangers fans was absolutely fantastic.
"Two of the best games I've been involved in were against Dynamo Kiev and Leeds United but as Old Firm games go, that took a bit of beating. The fans needed a wee break and thankfully the players gave them one. It was a welcome result."
Rangers currently sit 18 points behind Celtic, having been hit with a 10-point penalty for entering administration.
