Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has insisted that his team "deserved" to beat Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
After the second leg of the semi-final, which Real Madrid won 1-0, both Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini and English goalkeeper Joe Hart claimed that the Spanish outfit were fortunate to have made the final.
Bale, however, has claimed that his team "controlled" both legs of the semi-final and were "definitely the deserved winners".
"I don't think we were lucky. There was a bit of luck involved in the goal, obviously, but we controlled possession. They had their moments but I don't think they had a shot on target in two games - maybe just one. We're definitely the deserved winners," Bale told reporters.
"Semi-finals are always cagey - no-one really wants to make a mistake. We were lucky enough to get a goal and that's the difference."
Fernando turned a Bale cross past Hart in the 20th minute at the Bernabeu as Real Madrid ensured that they would join Atletico Madrid in the Milan final.
