Jupp Heynckes wants 'off day' for Cristiano Ronaldo in Champions League

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes says that he hopes Cristiano Ronaldo has an 'off day' when the German club meet Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.

Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes has joked that he will be hoping Cristiano Ronaldo has an off day when the Bundesliga champions face Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Bayern were drawn against 12-time winners Real in the semi-finals of the competition on Friday, leaving Heynckes with the chance to sign off his interim post on a high by potentially leading the German club towards a sixth crown by overcoming Los Blancos.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world, with Lionel Messi. He is absolutely world class. He works every day, which is commendable," Heynckes told reporters after the draw.

"He has often been decisive. In games like this, the team performance is important. I hope he doesn't have his best day against us."

Heynckes will be departing Bayern in the summer to make way for current Eintracht Frankfurt boss Niko Kovac.
