Dani Alves: 'I almost joined Real Madrid'

Barcelona defender Dani Alves reveals that he came close to joining Real Madrid when he decided to leave Sevilla in 2008.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has revealed that he came close to joining Real Madrid from Sevilla in 2008.

The Brazilian right-back spent six years with Sevilla from 2002 to 2008, before making the move to Camp Nou, where he has won five La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys and three Champions League crowns.

However, Alvez has claimed that he almost made the move to Barcelona's big rivals Real Madrid, only to have a change of heart at the final minute.

"I never hid my move to Real Madrid was almost done. My fate changed and I arrived at Barcelona instead," Alves told Onda Cero.

Alves was strongly linked with a move away from Barcelona last season, but eventually penned a new two-year contract in June 2015.
