Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez has said that he is "counting on" Luka Modric to prove him right by staying at the Bernabeu.
The Croatia international is a confirmed target for ambitious Inter Milan, who are prepared to splash out to make him their marquee summer signing.
Julen Lopetegui has denied reports that Madrid are willing to sanction a move, though, and teammate Vazquez is confident that Modric will still be in the Spanish capital come the start of next month.
"We are calm and counting on him. We hope he returns to enjoy Madrid," he told reporters on Los Blancos' tour of the United States. "I have no doubt he will stay... well, you never know in football, but I think that Luka is a Madrid player and will continue to be so.
"It's how I feel, I'm not in his head, but I am sure that he wants to continue. We won't get worked up."
Vazquez has played alongside Modric for the past three seasons, winning the Champions League in each of those campaigns.
