Keylor Navas is reportedly 'close' to agreeing to stay at Real Madrid following the return of Zinedine Zidane as manager.

The 32-year-old was usurped as Los Blancos' first-choice keeper following the £35m arrival of Thibaut Courtois at the start of the season, leading to speculation that he was seriously considering leaving the club this summer.

After Santiago Solari was sacked and replaced by Zidane this week, however, the Costa Rican has had a change of heart and now believes that there will be "fair competition" between him and Courtois for the number one spot in the future.

According to Marca, Navas is yet to make a final decision but expects Zidane to 'split the minutes' during the remainder of a campaign which has seen him make just three appearances in the top flight.

During Zidane's first spell at the Bernabeu, the Frenchman is thought to have repeatedly blocked Real's attempts to sign Courtois from Chelsea, with the deal only going through after he quit last summer.

Navas, who is contracted in the Spanish capital until 2021, has won three Champions League trophies and one La Liga title during his five years with the club.
