Real Madrid 'near deal for Santos teenager Rodrygo Goes'

Real Madrid beat Barcelona to the signature of Santos teenager Rodrygo Goes, according to a report.

Real Madrid are reportedly nearing a deal for Santos teenager Rodrygo Goes.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were both believed to be monitoring the 17-year-old, who has scored nine times in 29 appearances for Santos's first team since making the breakthrough.

Rodrygo, who has been compared to Brazil forward Neymar, would not be able to leave his homeland until he turns 18 in early 2019, and recently played down suggestions that he could depart Santos this summer.

However, according to Diario AS, Real Madrid are on the verge of securing the teenager's signature, and an announcement could be made before the end of the week.

The European champions could reportedly pay as much as £40m for the young Brazilian, with the move to officially occur at the end of next season.
