Santos coach Muricy Ramalho has said that he has never even heard of Joey Barton following the Marseille midfielder's criticism of Neymar.
The 57-year-old was responding to comments made on Twitter during Brazil's midweek friendly with England.
Barton, who is on loan from Queens Park Rangers, said that the 21-year-old is "massively overrated" and that he would not pay the kind of money that has been talked about within the media.
When asked about the comments, Neymar told reporters that he did not know who Barton was, and now his club manager has echoed that statement.
"I do not know who this Joey is," Ramalho told Brazilian newspaper Lance. "It's not contempt, I know a lot of people, but this guy I don't know."
Neymar scored 29 goal in 31 appearances last season.
