Morgan Schneiderlin backs Southampton for Champions League

Morgan Schneiderlin believes that Southampton can continue their impressive form in the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League next season.

Morgan Schneiderlin has claimed that Southampton can "shock the world" by qualifying for the Champions League this season.

The Saints are currently third in the Premier League and they boosted their chances of reaching Europe's biggest competition by beating Manchester United at the weekend.

"We want to put Southampton in the spotlight. That will be a shock for the country and the world," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We want to reach the Champions League. We want to change this tradition of it being all the big teams.

"Before every game, we say 'Lads, we cannot let this slip away,' We have to make it happen and to make it happen we need to be focused in every game, to not get 'big time'."

Southampton will face Ipswich Town in an FA Cup third-round replay on Wednesday evening, before resuming league action with a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday.
