David de Gea delighted to start for Spain

Spain goalkeeper David de Gea says that he was "very excited" to be handed his first La Roja start in Thursday's 1-0 friendly defeat to France.

David de Gea has revealed that he was delighted to be handed a start for Spain in Thursday's 1-0 friendly defeat to France.

The Manchester United goalkeeper made his first start for La Roja in Paris, but he has admitted that he was disappointed with the defeat.

"We played a good game. It's a shame about the result. I was very excited to be named the starter," he told reporters at a press conference.

New Chelsea striker Loic Remy scored the only goal of the match.
