Tottenham Hotspur club captain Michael Dawson will feature for the first time since March when his side visit Carlisle United in the League Cup tonight.
The 28-year-old rejected the chance to join Queens Park Rangers in August and assistant coach Steffen Freund insists that the defender still has a future at White Hart Lane.
"The most important thing is how he reacts and he likes to play for Tottenham," said Freund. "When you are a strong club like Tottenham there are a lot of opportunities. Andre [Villas-Boas] said that from the beginning of the season.
"It is difficult for him because he's the captain and had an offer from QPR. We are always positive from that point and we talked about it openly.
"The players who are involved at Carlisle have to play well because we have a strong squad."
Dawson is poised to make his 250th first-team appearance for Spurs in tonight's tie at Brunton Park.
